Minglement offers significant choices of Organic Heirloom beans, peas and lentils. We love these nutritious colorful foods and offer them in bulk.  Beans have been a mainstay on our shelves and we so are happy the trend for using beans more often has finally moved towards the mainstream and not just for “poor folk” anymore.  We are so happy to see them back in favor and flying off our shelves!

Beans, peas lentils, chickpeas (pulses) are are rich in protein, fiber and micro-nutrients and are gluten free.

Meals made with beans and ways to prepare them are often passed down thru generations and hold within their ancient genes stories of survival against all odds.

Eva’s grandparents were from Appalachia where beans are still a staple for many people in the region. She carries forward a bean bearing the name of her ancestors from over 110 years ago as well as heirloom corn and squash seed varieties from that time and place, growing them now on the island.

Note: Both beans and legumes are part of the Fabaceae family, commonly known as the pea or bean family, and share many similarities in terms of nutrition and culinary uses.  The two terms that are often used interchangeably with a few specific characteristics that set them apart.
