Cardamom is an herbaceous perennial which, after it flowers, produces a fruit pod containing black seeds, typically ground and used as a spice. It’s a major component in East Indian curry dishes and masala chai tea. Scandinavian bread recipes often add this intoxicating spice into their holiday bread.
